Sustainable Procurement Policy

This document contains Orkney Islands Council’s Sustainable Procurement Policy, approved in December 2024. It explains how the Council will consider social, economic and environmental effects when buying goods, services and works, including climate change, fair work, equality, local businesses, community wealth building and whole-life costs. It sets four main outcomes and sets out how progress will be monitored and reported. An attached impact assessment helps staff identify and manage sustainability risks in individual procurement exercises.
