Minor Adaptations – can help you stay safer at home

If you need a minor adaptation you can refer yourself for help to the appropriate housing agency if you:

  • are in receipt of state pension and/or
  • are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.

Works available – (up to the value of £250)

  • External handrail x 1 (main entrance)
  • Internal Banister
  • Extending front step x 1 (NB cost sharing may be required where the recent installation of a new door has caused the problem)
  • Reduction of thresholds
  • Rails for level access showers

You can request direct access to minor adaptations for up to 2 items* on this fast track list if you meet current criteria for assistance (as above).

*More than 2 items is likely to mean greater needs so a fuller assessment is required and a referral should be made to the Community Occupational Therapy Team.
