Kirkwood Bequest: Form G5a
The late Mrs Jeanie Kirkwood has left a substantial bequest to Stromness Academy for the purpose of promoting agricultural and veterinary study for pupils attending Stromness Academy. Pupils wishing to be considered for funding must complete the following information and submit it to Orkney Islands Council by 5 March.

Study Details
Only approved full-time courses in the agricultural and veterinary fields will be considered for funding.
- ‘Agricultural’ is defined as: “The science and art of cultivating the soil; including the allied pursuits of gathering in the crops and rearing livestock”.
- ‘Veterinary’ is defined as: “Pertaining to, connected or concerned with, the medical or surgical treatment of cattle and domestic animals”.

This completed application form must be submitted by 5 March to: Kirkwood Bequest, Education, Leisure and Housing, Orkney Islands Council, Kirkwall.
Note: Failure to submit an application by the due date will mean that no bursary can be awarded. If the application is approved, this would entitle the applicant to an annual bursary for the duration of any approved course. However, this bursary will only be paid if form G5b and the appropriate evidence are submitted annually by the due dates for each year of study. You will be contacted about this when required.
