If a member of the Council is not able to attend a meeting, s/he may give apologies, which are then recorded in the minute of that meeting. The categories of apology are as follows.

  • APC = Apologies as on other Council Business.
  • APP = Apologies due to personal/private matter.
  • NP = Not Present (no apologies given).
  • EX = Exceptional Circumstances.

Exceptional Circumstances include the following:

  • Illness.
  • Travel disruptions.
  • Weather related disruptions.
  • Matters where Standing Orders prevent the member from attending, such as continuation of a planning application and the member was not present when the matter was originally discussed.
  • A meeting which is considering one item and the member would not have participated in the discussion.
