| Papay Development Trust Tower Farm Feasibility | £61,548 | £5,706.40 | £55,841.60 | In collaboration with UHI Orkney, this project will install and pilot a small-scale, off-grid vertical farming system at Papay Market Garden to supply fresh produce for local community use while testing a resilient, sustainable food production model for island conditions. The initiative will demonstrate an autonomous tower farming system powered by solar and battery storage, develop local skills through a dedicated operator post, and produce a replication toolkit to support wider adoption across remote island communities. This funding will support an initial feasibility study to assess the financial viability and long-term sustainability of the project, supporting development of a deliverable, sustainable project model. |
