Kirkwall Airport is operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited. The Airport receives scheduled flights from the Scottish Mainland and Shetland, and is the base for the inter-island services to the Outer North Isles. The Airport also supports daily Royal Mail and newspaper flights.
The terminal building’s amenities include a café, bar and a shop. Card and coin operated public telephones with low level seating are situated in the main concourse and a coin operated public telephone is available in the departure lounge. A quiet room and baby change facilities are provided.
Wheelchairs are available in the foyer of the terminal building and an Ambulift is also available for use by the airlines for access to/from aircraft.

The Kirkwall Travel Centre is the main departure and arrival point for all bus services. The opening hours are:

The Travel Centre is a fully accessible building with toilet facilities and a waiting area for bus users.
NorthLink ferry services bound for Scrabster (Mainland Scotland) depart from the Stromness Travel Centre. The Stromness Visitor Information Centre can be found within the Travel Centre and left luggage lockers are also available here.
Just a short walk to the next pier is the departure point for the mv Graemsay service to Graemsay and Moaness (Hoy).
Stromness Travel Centre is the arrival and departure point for all bus services to and from Stromness. There is a late night bus transfer service for NorthLink passengers available between Stromness, Hatston and Kirkwall to meet with NorthLink’s evening arrival and departures sailings. This service is also open to the public but priority is given to NorthLink passengers. The transfer service departs Stromness Travel Centre at 21:05.
A bus transfer service for NorthLink ferry passengers in Orkney is available to meet with NorthLink's evening arrival and departure sailings from Hatson Pier. Scheduled times are as follows:

FL - This service is subject to alteration at short notice depending on arrival or departure of the NorthLink ferry service linking Shetland, Kirkwall and Aberdeen. If the ferry service is cancelled the bus service will not operate. If the ferry is late the bus service will depart 10 minutes after arrival of the vessel.

Services to the six Outer North Isles depart from the Kirkwall Pier. There is a passenger waiting area at the far end of the pier adjacent to the Outer North Isles linkspan. Services to Shapinsay depart from the slip to the west of the main pier, where there is also a waiting room for passengers. Services to Hoy and Flotta arrive and depart from Houton, which is around half way between Kirkwall and Stromness on the A964 road. Bus services to and from Kirkwall, Monday to Saturday connect with ferry services to and from Hoy and Flotta.
Services to Egilsay, Rousay and Wyre arrive and depart from Tingwall Pier, which is around 20 minutes drive from Kirkwall. Bus services to and from Kirkwall and Stromness connect with a number of the ferry services Monday to Saturday.
