Youth Justice

Youth Justice very broadly describes the range of practices and procedures for dealing with young people involved in or at risk of being involved in offending - at the heart of which is the Scottish Children's Hearing System.

In Orkney, agencies including the Police, Orkney Health and Care, Education, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration work closely to identify where youth offending is a problem, and to undertake preventive work informed by the Whole System Approach guidance issued by the Scottish Government.
