Orkney Islands Council operates five swimming pools, one on the Mainland (Stromness) and four on the isles (Westray, Sanday, Stronsay and North Walls). Five have been built on school sites, with Stromness being the exception, although all provide daytime programmes for schools. Further information on each of the pools is available from the 'Related Links' section of this page.
All Swimming Pools and Fitness Centres pages can be accessed from the 'More pages in this section' menu.
Currently, the Westray and North Walls Swimming Pools are closed.
There are fitness suites at KGS Sports Centre, Stromness Pool and Fitness Centre, Dounby Centre and the following Healthy Living Centres: North Walls; Rousay, Sanday, Shapinsay, St Margaret's Hope, Stronsay and Westray.
Stromness Academy offers the use of its sports hall and fitness room to the wider community when not in use by the pupils. For further information please view the link to Stromness Academy's website in the 'Related Sites' section of this page.
