Funding for Energy Efficiency Upgrades in the Home

Heat and Energy Efficiency Scotland: Area Based Scheme (HEES: ABS) 2023/24

The Scottish Government has awarded funding to Orkney Islands Council to assist home owners, private sector tenants and landlords to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Eligible households can receive funding for:

  • Loft insulation.
  • Internal Wall insulation.
  • External Wall insulation.
  • (Under) Floor insulation.
  • High heat retention storage heaters; following insulation upgrades.

HEEPS: ABS 2019/20 and previous project years

Our managing agent for this period was Firefly Energi Orkney Ltd.

This company entered administration in 2021 and is no longer trading (Company number SC473999).

Following the installation of an energy efficiency measure, Firefly Energi Orkney Ltd registered and paid for an insurance-backed warranty.  This was provided direct to householders by GDGC (now called Qualitymark Protection) and offers protection now that this installer has ceased trading.

Home Energy Scotland

Additional support and energy efficiency advice is available from Home Energy Scotland (HES).

HES is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Energy Saving Trust. They offer free and impartial energy efficiency advice and are available on the freephone helpline number 08088082282.
