Transport

Papdale Halls pays student transport costs from their home island to Kirkwall within a transport policy framework: that is on a weekly basis for the purposes of attending Kirkwall Grammar School.

Generally students travel on Orkney Ferries’ inter island ferry service and where appropriate are taken by bus to and from Kirkwall to departure terminals on the Mainland for example at Houton or Tingwall on a weekly basis. Some students are flown by Loganair to and from Kirkwall Airport and taxis to the airport are provided to meet flights.

All student transport outwith this is paid for by the student and or their family, however, on some exceptional occasions such as illness or bereavements costs may also be paid for at the discretion of the halls’ duty manager.
