Development and Marine Planning (policy)

The Development and Marine Planning Team cover a range of responsibilities associated with policy and project development for the use and development of land in Orkney.

The core responsibility of the team is the preparation and review of the Local Development Plan for Orkney, and associated policy documents. 

The team also have a responsibility for biodiveristy, archaeology, access, conservation and design issues and has a leading role in the Council's regeneration projects.  The Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative and North Isles Landscape Partnership Scheme projects also form part of the Development and Marine Planning Team.

The Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative and the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership Scheme projects were also both part of Development and Marine Planning, although both of these projects have now been completed.
