Orkney Islands Council Chamber Debate

Youth Chamber Debate - December 2015.

Running in consecutive years to the Youth Conference, the biennial Youth Chamber Debate run by Community Learning and Development, in partnership with young people, various partner agencies from the Orkney Youth Workers Forum and Orkney Islands Council (OIC) allows for debate and discussion on various topics arising from the Youth Conference. The Orkney Islands Council Chambers in Kirkwall provide the backdrop for the Chamber Debate and event which has now become an established and exciting part of OIC's calendar.

The Debate provides another major opportunity for young people, schools and services to engage in active debate on issues which young people feel passionate about. These events are always a great opportunity, not only for young people to get their voices heard and to better understand the democratic process, but they are also valued as an important and essential way for Councillors and service providers in Orkney to have a genuine and productive discussion with young people on an array of issues which affect them.
