Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) is a Scottish Government strategic partnership framework for responding to redundancy situations. It ensures that local public sector agencies respond to potential and proposed redundancies as quickly and effectively as possible.
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) leads on the delivery of PACE in conjunction with other partner organisations such as the Department for Work and Pensions, local authorities, the STUC and Citizen's Advice Scotland.
Orkney Island Council has recently received funding from Scottish Government to provide additional local support to individuals who have recently been made redundant or have received notice of redundancy.
A dedicated Employability Keyworker, working with various local partners, will offer and provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of people who engage with the service. This could include one-to-one/ group work support, support to access specialist advice services, qualification/ training, support with CV-writing, applications, interview preparation, advice on starting up a business, access to IT facilities etc.
