Annual Notification

Council Tax is payable on domestic dwellings and is a form of local taxation to help pay for the services that the Council provides. The Council Tax for each financial year from 1 April to 31 March, will usually be set by the Council in the preceding month of February. A list of the amounts to be paid will also be published in the local press.

Council Tax Billing

A Council Tax bill will normally be issued to each household during the month of March and will show how much to pay, when to pay it and provide information on eligibility to discounts, exemptions etc. Information will also be provided on how to appeal if you think that your Council Tax bill is incorrect.

A Change of Circumstances

If your circumstances change during the year, for example you move home or become entitled to receive a discount, you should tell the Council and a revised bill will be issued.
