Review of Byelaws on the Prohibition of Consumption of Alcohol in Designated Public Places (Kirkwall)

Notice is hereby given that Orkney Islands Council intends to apply to the Scottish Government for confirmation of the Orkney Islands Council Prohibition of Consumption of Alcohol in Designated Public Places Byelaws (Kirkwall) 2021. Having been in place for 10 years, the original byelaws are being reviewed in exercise of the powers conferred on the Council by section 202A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, section 46 of the Orkney County Council Act 1974 and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf.

The draft byelaws will be available for inspection on the Council’s website, in the 'Related Downloads' section of this page, between 27 May 2021 and 28 June 2021. Paper copies can also be provided on request between these dates by sending a request in writing to Customer Services, Council Offices, School, Place, Kirkwall, KW15 1NY, or by telephoning 01856873535.

Paper copies will also be available for inspection at Customer Services, Council Offices, Kirkwall, KW15 1NY, between the hours of 10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday, between 27 May 2021 and 28 June 2021.

Any objections to the proposed byelaws should be notified in writing to The Scottish Ministers, Criminal Law and Sentencing Branch, Criminal Law and Licensing Division, St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh, EH1 3DG by no later than 28 June 2021.
