Washing machine recall advice

Washing machine recall advice
18 December 2019

Orkney Islands Council’s Trading Standards team is highlighting advice about the washing machine recall announced this week.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards has advised that certain washing machines manufactured by Whirlpool under the Indesit and Hotpoint brands are being recalled.

It has been identified that machines manufactured from October 2014 to February 2018 may have an issue which can cause overheating of the locking mechanism, leading to a risk of fire.

Anyone who has purchased one of these machines since October 2014 should unplug the machine, note the model and serial number and contact Whirlpool to find out if their machine is one of those affected. Whirlpool’s number is 0800 316 1442.
