Orkney Islands Council are advising that they will be carrying out some road repair works in Kirkwall over the next few weeks.
This will see street closures to Albert Street, Bridge Street, St Olaf’s Wynd and Victoria Street on the following weeks.
- Week commencing 15 June, Bridge Street, St Olaf’s Wynd and Albert Street (between Bridge Street and Laing Street).
- Week commencing 22 June work will be moving to Victoria Street.
- Finally, week commencing 29 June, returning to Albert Street (between Laing Street and Broad Street).
All of the works will be carried out under road closure conditions with the relevant roads being closed from 09:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday of each week.
Where possible, pedestrian access will be maintained, however due to the requirements of social distancing and to keep the public and workforce as safe as possible there may be times when the roads are completely closed.
During any periods when the areas being worked in have to be completely closed, additional signage will be provided to advise pedestrians of the closure and an alternative route to be used.
