Orkney Ferries is set to bring in enhanced timetables from Monday 6 July following consultation with Community Councils in the North and South Isles.
More sailings on the routes served by the company will be operating from that date – with all customers asked to book and pay in advance before travelling.
The timetables are due to be published on Monday 29 June and will be available here.
People travelling with a vehicle should as usual book ahead of their journey. In addition, people planning to travel as a foot passenger should also book in advance by calling Orkney Ferries on 01856872044.
Orkney Islands Council is contacting contractors and stressing the need to book as early as possible before travelling to the isles to plan future work. This is particularly important if plant and other equipment needs to be transported by ferry.
Reduced timetables have been in operation in recent months as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.
With lockdown restrictions now easing in line with guidance from the Scottish Government, discussions with Community Councils have been held to help steer the introduction of an expanded service on local ferry routes.
