26 March 2021

Ryan Jones, Garage MechanicName: Ryan Jones

Age: 25

Area from: Kirkwall

Job title: Garage mechanic

Duties: Inspecting and maintaining fleet vehicles, mechanical and electrical work.

Changes during and since lockdown: Keeping up social distancing practices; disinfecting workplaces.

Any innovative practice introduced: No, workshop procedures are very thorough.

How has life changed personally since lockdown? More times of isolated living; uncertainty of the future; not going out unless needing food or going to work.

How have you found the public’s reaction to changes? People have been worried for their own health and the health of those close to them.

What are you looking forward to most when restrictions end? Being able to have/make fun memories with family and friends; a nice fresh pub bought pint catching up with people I have not seen for a year.
