Lockdown Letters – young people asked to express themselves

Lockdown Letters – young people asked to express themselves
03 February 2021

Young people in Orkney are being asked to share their thoughts on how lockdown has affected them personally in a new initiative called “Lockdown Letters”.

This could be done by writing a letter to someone or a short story, a poem, drawing a picture or simply by writing down their thoughts on how the pandemic and restrictions have had an impact on their life, highlighting the good and bad.

The Council’s Community Learning and Development Team want to ensure the voices of young people continue to be heard during these challenging times.

CLD Youth Worker Anita Park said: “We do not want the opinions and thoughts of our young people to be missed so we are aiming to produce a booklet for future reference on the wider impact coronavirus has had on Orkney’s youth community.”

The initiative, which is aimed at young people aged up to 25, can be run as part of the Young Islander Challenge from Youth Scotland – more information is available here: http://bit.ly/Young-Islanders

If you are interested in taking part, please email anita.park@orkney.gov.uk for further information, or completed works, by the end of February.
