KGS pupils launch appeal for donations

KGS pupils launch appeal for donations
24 May 2021

Want to help Kirkwall Grammar School S2 pupils change the world and make it a better place?

They are seeking donations via a GoFundMe page to assist with a number of projects to help reduce poverty and inequality for counterparts in schools in Pakistan and Nepal - as part of a unique global education programme, Connecting Classrooms.

Any donations will go towards several initiatives including the purchase of stationery, uniforms and sandals for pupils, and to help widows set themselves up in business, in turn helping their families out of poverty.

The pupils have also arranged collecting points at Sclaters, Town Barbers and the Co-operative stores in Kirkwall for donations of educational materials and tech such as phones, iPads, tablets and laptops. If any other businesses are interested in participating, they are asked to contact teacher Theo Ogbhemhe at Kirkwall Grammar School.

Further information about Connecting Classrooms and the projects can be found on the Orkney Islands Council website.
