Orkney Islands Council has taken steps to make sure supplies of free dog poo bags are still available for people to use.
With many of the regular outlets closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council’s Environmental Health and Customers Services teams have set up alternative collection points – and are grateful to the businesses and partner agencies who are assisting with this.
Subject to demand, the aim is to make dog poo bags available from today (Tuesday 28 April) at the following locations:
- Kirkwall – outside the main entrance door to the OIC Customer Services in School Place, outside the Police Station entrance door and from the Co-op in Albert Street.
- Stromness – outside the rear entrance door to the Warehouse Buildings and at the Co-op.
- Burray - Seaview Stores.
The Council is also looking at ways in which bags could be provided in the North and South Isles.
We would ask people to only take as many bags as they reasonably need. The packages they are supplied in contain 50 individual biodegradable dog poo bags - so one or two packages per person/per dog is suggested.
