Orkney Islands Council’s Housing Service is advising that due to the current COVID-19 situation, and recent guidance for contractors, only emergency repairs will be carried out within their houses – for example internal power failure or leak.
If a repair has been already been instructed, that is not an emergency, it will not be carried out. The repair will be undertaken once business returns to normal.
The new customer services platform, MyOrkney, available on the council website, allows you to pay your rent, report any issues and track progress. Due to the recent COVID-19 guidelines and subsequent impact on staffing levels, our phone lines are very busy and we advise tenants and service users, where possible, to use this method. Our capacity to deal with requests promptly will be limited and we ask that customers only request services where they are essential and thank customers in advance for their patience during these challenging times.
