Have you updated signage to the Stay Well scheme

Date: 10 February 2023

Are you having a spring clean of your business or community premises?

You may have COVID posters left over from earlier stages of the pandemic, when less was known about the virus and how it spread.

Freshen up this spring by taking down out-of-date posters, and updating to the Scottish Government ‘Stay Well Signage’ scheme.

For businesses, venues, and community groups, the scheme gives suggestions of possible measures, none of which are compulsory - you simply tick off the suggestions you choose online, and can then print out a poster to show the measures you are taking.

With more than a third of adults in Scotland still anxious about resuming activities, the signage can support more people to get back to what they’ve missed. In a recent Scottish Government survey, nearly half of respondents report they would feel more comfortable going in to a shop, café or restaurant using the signage scheme.

Orkney can be particularly proud of our contribution to the ‘Stay Well Signage’ scheme – many businesses and organisations across Orkney helped to pilot the scheme last summer, when it was called ‘COVID Sense Signage’. If you had difficulty signing up previously, then thanks to our feedback the process should now be simpler and more straightforward.

As businesses and the community across Orkney have adapted to living with COVID, then specialist advice and support from the Council’s COVID Recovery Officer will come to an end in March.

If you would like advice and support on using simple and unobtrusive measures to reduce the risk of all infectious diseases, please get in touch with Environmental Health on environmental.health@orkney.gov.uk or call 01856 873535 ext 2877.

Do you have anything from the pandemic which you think is unusual? If so the folk at the Orkney Museum are collecting the story of the pandemic and they may like to take a look. You can contact them at museum@orkney.gov.uk
