What if I can’t store my recycling and don’t have a suitable vehicle to transport recycling to the waste transfer station?

If there is no way you can store your recycling at your premises, which is our preferred approach, then as an exception, we can offer an ad-hoc collection. Please contact us at developmentandinfrastructure@orkney.gov.uk

requesting a collection and you will be advised of the charge for this. Your business will receive a separate invoice for this service. It won’t affect your annual contract. The charge applied will be the Council’s standard ad-hoc collection charge for waste as this material will be collected and treated as mixed waste, transported to Shetland’s Energy Recovery Plant.
