Safety of our staff and everyone in Orkney is paramount and we have been working hard to make sure that we can deliver services in a way that is compliant with physical distancing and hygiene requirements whilst still continuing to manage the waste services.

What is happening with recycling on the islands?

Recycling banks on the Outer Isles have been switched over and these will be changed over once full. Given the current situation, at present we cannot offer the same turnaround time as previously experienced but isles resident will be able to commence recycling again.

Special collections for the north and south non linked islands of Orkney are being reintroduced from 26 October by the Council, with a new online booking system provided to arrange your special collection from today (13 October 2020).
