Somebody in our house has had symptoms of COVID-19 and we are in self-isolation. What advice should I follow for possible contaminated waste?

The latest advice from Health Protection Scotland (21 August) says that you must ensure all waste items that have been in contact with the individual (e.g. used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths) are disposed of securely within disposable bags. When full, the plastic bag should then be placed in a second bin bag and tied. These bags should be stored for 72 hours before being put out for collection in your bin. Other household waste can be disposed of as normal in your bin. Our service would add please do not place any loose material into your bin. Always contain your household waste securely in bags before placing in your bin.
