How best to contact me

Email is the best way to get in touch, or give me a call and I’ll get back to you!

Personal Profile

Growing up I attended Glaitness primary and KGS, after which I went to University of St Andrews to study International Relations (2017-2021), and completed my MSc at Heriot Watts campus in Stromness in Renewable Energy Development (2021-2022).

I first got engaged in politics in 2013/14 during the independence referendum and remained engaged and interested throughout school and university. In 2020 I joined the Scottish Greens International Committee, and in 2021 got more actively involved while volunteering on the Scottish Greens Highlands and Islands campaign. As regional election agent for our 12 list candidates and 1 constituency candidate I organised anything relating to election rules and compliance, and coordinated the local Orkney Greens canvassing efforts. Following the election, I began my work with Ariane Burgess MSP (part-time) (October 2021-April 2023) while campaigning in my own election in May 2022 supporting colleagues across Orkney, Shetland, and Western Isles who were also standing. Since April 2023 I have been Community Energy Scotland’s Policy Manager working on lobbying and advocacy of the UK and Scottish Governments, and national regulators, on behalf of community energy groups and the issue more broadly.

I’ve been fortunate to work over summer at Leask Marine and EMEC, and had previously worked for a range of local businesses in hospitality and food & drink since I was 14. I am currently a member of the board of directors for the Pier Arts Centre.

In my spare time you can find me either out and about with friends, or playing badminton.

Outside Interests

Outside of being a councillor I also work for Community Energy Scotland part time as their policy manager. In this role I'm responsible for policy formation and lobbying of government, stakeholders, and regulators. I also engage with community groups across Scotland to hear about the challenges they face to ensure policy is supporting the potential and the value of community energy. When not working I'm often found playing badminton and am actively involved in the Orkney Badminton Association.
