Personal Profile
An award-winning journalist, former Leader of Scottish Borders Council and Scottish Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson best known for championing and being the early figurehead for both the £295million Borders Rail Link and £65million Balfour Hospital. Served as a Borders councillor from 1980-2003 Honorary Provost of Hawick (1999-2002), co-founder and Chair of the South East Scotland Transport Partnership (1999-2003), and Chair of NHS Orkney (2007-2015). Editor of Orkney Today (2003-2008) and Living Orkney Magazine (2009-2019) Joined the Scottish Green Party in 2020 and served on the Scottish Greens national Elections and Campaigns Committee (2021-22)
