Traffic Regulation Orders consultations extended

This consultation closed on 20 April 2012

Orkney Islands Council is extending several consultations on proposed traffic regulation orders, to help generate a clearer idea of community feeling on the plans.  The consultations were run in December 2011 and January this year and are being opened for comment again from today (Thursday 22 March 2012) for four weeks.

The consultations are:

Roads Services Manager Simon Butcher said: “We have had feedback, in many cases fairly evenly split between the ‘for’ and ‘against’ camps. We do need to ensure that as much as possible we encourage the full range of opinions so we would welcome more responses to the proposals – both positive and negative  -  so that officers can better gauge the community response and report them to Councillors appropriately.”

Full details of the proposals including maps and statements of reasons are available in the Public Notices section of the OIC website and for viewing from OIC Customer Services in Kirkwall and Stromness, or by contacting Kenneth Roy, Team Leader Roads Support on (tel) 01856873535.

Only new responses are being sought – those who have already commented will have their views included in a report to Councillors in June.

Comments should be sent to the Chief Executive, Orkney Islands Council, Council Offices, Kirkwall, Orkney KW15 1NY by 17:00 on 20 April.
