Schools in Kirkwall and Stromness - Amendment Order
Orkney Islands Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 84(1) and (1A) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 amending The Orkney Islands Council (Variable 20 mph Speed Limit) (Schools in Kirkwall and Stromness) Order 2005 (hereinafter called the 2005 Order) in order to extend the existing variable twenty miles per hour speed limit in the vicinity of Glaitness School, Kirkwall. The proposed Order will impose a variable speed limit of twenty miles per hour when indicated by a traffic sign between the hours of 07:30 and 17:00 on Mondays to Fridays inclusive in the public roads in Kirkwall listed in the Schedule below (all distances being approximate). The public roads listed in the Schedule will replace those listed in paragraph (b) of the Schedule to the 2005 Order.
Details of the proposal are contained in the draft Order which, together with copies of the relative map, a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order and the 2005 Order, may be inspected at Customer Services, Council Offices, Kirkwall, KW15 1NY (09:00 to 1700 Monday to Friday) and at Warehouse Buildings, 2-12 Victoria Street, Stromness, KW16 3AA (09:15 to 19:00 on Mondays, 09:15 to 17:00 Tuesday to Friday and 10:45 to 16:00 on Saturdays).
Objections to the proposal, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing to the Chief Executive, Orkney Islands Council, Council Offices, Kirkwall, KW15 1NY not later than 17:00 on Friday 18 January 2019.

1. On the C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, from a point 30 metres or thereby north of its junction with unclassified Peerie Sea Loan, Kirkwall to a point 200 metres or thereby east southeast of its junction with unclassified Pickaquoy Loan, Kirkwall, a distance of 600 metres or thereby.
2. On the unclassified Peerie Sea Loan, Kirkwall, from its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, to a point 9 metres or thereby west of its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, a distance of 9 metres or thereby.
3. On the unclassified Muddisdale Road, Kirkwall, from its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, to a point 15 metres or thereby southwest of its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, a distance of 15 metres or thereby and
4. On the unclassified Pickaquoy Loan, Kirkwall, from its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, to a point 95 metres or thereby south southwest of its junction with C40 Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, a distance of 95 metres or thereby.
