Hoy - Submission of Planning Application - October 2020

We submitted a planning application for the Hoy project in October 2020.

As with the Quanterness application, following a decision at a meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee in November 2019, a request was made to the Scottish Ministers to call in the Hoy application too on the grounds of national importance - this request was granted and we're currently awaiting further instruction from the DPEA as regards to the consultation period.

All three of our potential developments are substantial, and the turbines are of a height not used in Orkney before (149.9m to blade tip). The projects therefore present a number of potential impacts and these will be weighed against the potential benefits from the project through the planning process.

Individuals will have different opinions on that balance and through the planning process have the opportunity to express their support or objections to the development.

Full documentation for the proposal has been published on the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) website

On accessing the website, enter the case reference CIN-ORK-002 in the ‘Search by case reference’ box to find all documents relating to this case.
