North Isles residents must not be left out of pocket, says Council Leader
Orkney Islands Council Leader Heather Woodbridge has written to broadband providers seeking firm assurances that residents and businesses affected by a prolonged outage in Orkney’s Outer North Isles will be fully compensated, and that stronger measures are put in place to prevent such an incident from happening again.

Temporary Closure of Roads in Kirkwall for Norwegian Constitution Day
Notice is hereby given that Orkney Islands Council has made an order in terms of section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to the effect that, in connection with Norwegian Constitution Day, the roads referred to in the schedule below will be closed and parking will not be permitted on Sunday 17 May 2026 between 10am and 4.15pm. Emergency service vehicles are exempt from the prohibition.
