Orkney Islands Council is advising motorists of possible delays in Finstown from tomorrow (27 January 2021) as works start to upgrade the streetlighting system, on the A966 between Finstown and the firth School.
Works are expected to last for around four weeks.
Over the next couple of weeks, works will move closer the Firth School and the footbridge.
While School attendance is currently minimal, when possible, teams will be avoiding carrying out works around times of school drop off and collection.
When working around the footbridge the Council will be operating a marshalling system for the safety of footbridge users, and there may be short delays.
There is the possibility that works will be ongoing if schools return to normal during the coming weeks.
