The Council is advising that surface dressing road works will be carried out in two areas tomorrow (Friday 1 June):
- On the A986 in the Harray area from Refuge Corner to Bimbister Road (up to just short of the Stoneyhill Road junction). Diversion is via the Stoneyhill Road (or the A966 Evie to Finstown Road for heavy vehicles). These works will affect public bus Service 7 (Stromness and Kirkwall to Birsay via Dounby). The 06:34 and 07:34 services (departing Stromness) are unaffected. Outwith these times, the bus will not serve Finstown (Baikies), or the Harray Road End to Dounby.
This work is nearly complete and will then move on to:
- A short section of the Appietown Road from Church Road to the A986. There will be a short, signed diversion. No bus services will be affected.
Work on the A965 (Kirkwall – Stromness road) from Binscarth Farm to Germiston Road is expected to start early next week. More details will be provided in coming days.
