Recycling disrupted due to high winds in Areas 12 and 14
21 January 2021

Orkney Islands Council is advising it will be unable to carry out recycling collections in some areas today (21 January) due to high winds.

Areas affected are as follows:

Area 12 – Birsay/Harray/Evie

Area 14 – the following roads/schemes are affected:

  • Bloomfield Road
  • Old Finstown Road
  • Cruan Road
  • Finstown Hall
  • Acre Lea
  • Jib Park

(Collections are currently going ahead in Stenness and Harray in Area 14.)

The Council is advising households affected to hold onto their recycling until the next metals and paper collection in four weeks’ time.

However the waste team is looking closely at any possibilities for returning to affected households in coming days.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience and will provide any further updates via it’s OIC Updates Facebook page, the 'News' section of our website and local media.
