Polling cards arriving this weekend
19 May 2017

Poll cards will be arriving through Orkney letterboxes this weekend for all those eligible to vote at the forthcoming UK Parliamentary General Election on 8 June.

The poll card details where your polling station is and also how you can make arrangements for a postal or proxy vote. Voters in Evie should note that there’s been a change to their polling station and they will now vote at the Evie Kirk.

16 and 17 year olds are reminded that they are not eligible to vote in this election.

Fiona Ratter, the Council’s Election Manager, said: “If you don’t receive your poll card or have any queries about how to vote, then please contact the Election Office on on 01856886350 or email us."

“While it’s not essential that voters bring it with them on polling day, having the poll card handy will make the process of voting quicker and more convenient.”

Enquiries relating to electoral registration and absent vote applications are dealt with by the Electoral Registration Office, 8 Broad Street, Kirkwall, Orkney, KW15 1NX, adjacent to the Cathedral, 01856876222 or email them."

Polling stations are open from 07:00 to 22:00 on Thursday 8 June. The votes for the Orkney and Shetland constituency will be counted at the Kirkwall Grammar School with the Shetland votes being transported to Orkney as soon as possible after close of poll.

A result is expected before breakfast time on Friday morning.
