UPDATE - Rescheduled bin collections for strike affected areas

Date: 31 August 2022

In a bid to ease a build-up of domestic waste for those households affected by the national strike action, the waste and recycling teams will be rescheduling collections.

Areas 13 and 15 that did not receive a domestic collection on Friday 26 August will have a rescheduled domestic collection on Friday 2 September instead of their recycling collection.

Areas 1 and 6 that did not receive a domestic collection on Monday 29 will have a rescheduled domestic collection on Monday 5 September instead of their recycling collection.

We realise that folk will still have their recycling to deal with – but ask that this either be held on to or put to one of the recycling centres.

Corporate Director Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure, Hayley Green, said: “It was felt important to swap the recycling collection for a domestic waste pick up given that these areas potentially face a second round of disruption if the next planned strike action goes ahead which could lead to a considerable build-up.

“We recognise that some households have no means of disposing of their household waste and nowhere to store it, so we hope this goes some way to ease the issues being faced.”
