Road resurfacing programme update - week starting 17 January

Date: 17 January 2022

Roadworks

OIC's road resurfacing programme is continuing, with crews at Outertown Road, Stromness this week (starting 17 January) carrying out resurfacing works.

The work is programmed to last for four days and will be carried out under road closure conditions - but given the nature of the road the closures will be kept to a minimum in order to minimise disruption and maintain a reasonable amount of access to the properties along the Outertown Road.

Crews are scheduled to head to Shapinsay next week (week starting 24 January) to work on a short section on the B9059 between the Cemetery and Howe. The road will be closed with diversions available over Hill Road.

Members of the public are reminded these resurfacing works are in addition to road closures in central Kirkwall over the next few weeks for a series of investigative works which will impact on some bus services. Find out more in our recent news release.
