Swimming Pools
Orkney Islands Council operates six swimming pools, two on the Mainland (Kirkwall and Stromness) and four on the isles (Westray, Sanday, Stronsay and North Walls). Five have been built on school sites, with Stromness being the exception, although all provide daytime programmes for schools.
Both Kirkwall and Stromness provide traditional 25 metre pools whereas the Westray, Sanday and Stronsay have 15 metres length and are 0.9 - 1.5 metres depth and North Walls has a 9 metres length and 1.5 metres depth.
