Our Customer Services Reception centre - better known as the One Stop Shop – is housed in the former East Kirk in School Place, Kirkwall. It’s specially designed to be is your first port of call - whenever you need information or advice from or about the council.
Gateway to all Council services
The One Stop Shop is your gateway to all council services and is your first point of contact if you:
- Want to pay a bill
- Need to arrange a home help
- Require information about benefits or housing
- Want to organise a travel card
- Have to collect a job application pack
- Have any other question about the services, advice and information the council can provide.
One Stop Shop Opening Hours
The One Stop Shop opening hours are detailed below. The One Stop Shop service is available throughout the day, including lunch times, to offer maximum convenience for all our customers.

Accessibility
The One Stop Shop has full disabled access, is equipped with extensive hearing loop facilities and subscribes to the Royal National Institute for the Deaf’s Typetalk system. There’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with an open plan environment and meeting rooms available for more sensitive discussions.
