Release Date: Jul 03, 2007

Under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, all licensing boards must publish a statement of licensing policy every three years.

The first policies must be published by 30 November 2007. Under the 2005 Act, licensing boards will be required to carry out their various licensing functions so as to promote the five licensing objectives;

  1. Preventing crime and disorder
  2. Securing public safety
  3. Preventing public nuisance
  4. Protecting and improving public health
  5. Protecting children from harm

Statements of licensing policy are intended to set out the policies, which the licensing board will generally apply to promote the licensing objectives when making decisions on applications.
