Development Planning
The Development Planning and Regeneration Team of the Council write the local planning policies for Orkney by taking national planning policies from the Scottish Government to a local level. The policy documents will relate to land use planning for the County, such as housing and economic development. This planning function is generally called Development Planning. A number of the policy documents that have been written by Development Planning and Regeneration are on the left hand side of this page.
The main policy document that Development Planning is required to write by law is the Development Plan. Currently we are reviewing the existing Development Plan for Orkney and will be producing a new Local Development Plan. To read more about the review process go to the Orkney Local Development Plan.
