Stromness Urban Design Framework
The Stromness Urban Design Framework was approved by Orkney Islands Council on 3 July 2009. The Urban Design Framework sets out land use planning policy and development land allocations for Stromness. The document was the subject of extensive consultation throughout 2008 and early 2009. It was also subject to Strategic Environment Assessment. Full details of the consultation process and a copy of the Environmental Report are available upon request. The UDF has status as Supplementary Planning Guidance supporting the Orkney Local Plan (adopted December 2004). This Urban Design Framework will be a material consideration when making decisions on planning applications within Stromness which fall to be considered after 3 July 2009. It will inform the review of the Orkney Local Development Plan which is currently underway.
