Orkney Foodbank

No one in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why Orkney Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Orkney Charitable Trust

Orkney Charitable Trust was set up in June 2014. Their mission is to provide financial help for people under 25 living in Orkney during times of ill health, disability, hardship or disadvantage. Financial support is available to these people and their families in the form of grants, loans or other support.

Voluntary Action Orkney

Volunteering is an incredible thing to do, both for you and others. Volunteering can help you learn new skills and meet new people. It can give you different experiences to help you apply for study, paid work or a new job.  It can help protect your physical and mental health, increase your sense of well-being and improve life for other people, our community and our environments.  Voluntary Action Orkney can help find a volunteering role to suit you, your location and the time you have. They can also offer help if you need a bit more support and confidence as you start.

Women’s Aid Orkney

As a charity, Women’s Aid Orkney receives funding to run the refuge and provide support services. But that doesn’t include the extra things that they do to support women in crisis.

There are a number of ways to donate to Women’s Aid Orkney to support them and the women and families they work with:

  • Regular Donation
  • Earn money for free when you shop online
  • Donate clothes and Toys
  • Organise a fundraiser
  • Give your time
