Trading Standards
The primary roles of Trading Standards are to enhance economic and social welfare in Orkney by improving standards of fair trading and to protect the interests of local consumers and businesses.
We do this by enforcing a range of consumer and business related legislation through inspection of trade premises, testing equipment, sampling goods and investigating complaints. We provide advice and information to consumers and businesses and offer consumer education events such as talks to schools and other groups.
We also work closely with other agencies such as the Police, Office of Fair Trading and the Citizens Advice Bureau. To gain further information on these agencies please see the Related Links section.
For information on recent product safety recalls you can visit the Trading Standards Institute website within the Related Sites section.
