Orkney Islands Council
Working together for a better Orkney

Culture Fund

Now open for applications

Background

The Culture Fund is an annual open pot made available by Orkney Islands Council to support Arts, Culture and Heritage projects in Orkney. The fund supports new projects and existing cultural organisations with their work. Last year the fund supported 25 projects, a combined investment of £27,000 in Orkney’s culture. Please see the case studies at the bottom of this page for examples of what the fund has supported before.

Who can apply

Organisations that deliver a cultural programme or activities, or organisations that have cultural elements in their programme are eligible. Culture, in this instance, is defined as being: Arts, Heritage and Language, i.e. Orkney dialect. Only properly constituted organisations which are not for profit and have clear financial procedures and produce audited accounts in keeping with the scale of their operation can apply.

Organisations will be informed of the results of their application in February and successful applicants will be made aware at that time of the level of funding allocated by the Council from the Culture Fund. It is hoped that this will allow organisations to plan with a level of comfort. A formal award letter will then confirm the grant as soon as possible.
