Help for Families with Children at School

School Clothing Allowance

Grants are available to help purchase essential school clothing and footwear for your children if you receive any of the following benefits:

• Income Support
• Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
• Employment - Support Allowances - income related

At present the maximum grant available is £54.00 per child.

Free School Meals

School meals would be provided free for your children if you receive any of the following benefits:

• Income Support
• Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
• Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit, and your income is less than £15,860
• Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit with an income below £6,420

Applications for 2011-2012

Application form for the 2011-12 session are available from the Related Downloads section. Please return completed application forms to Education Services by the end of July or early August, prior to the start of the new school year. Applications submitted after this time will be accepted but please note that the eligibility for free school meals will only apply from the date the application is processed.

Please note clothing allowances for 2011-12 will not be paid before 24th June 2011.
