Registrars

The main Registration Office for Orkney is based in Kirkwall at the Orkney Islands Council Offices, School Place and is open Monday to Friday.

The Stromness Registration Office is based in the Former Ferry Terminal Building in Stromness on a by-appointment basis.

There are ten home-based registration offices where the Registrars carry out registrations in their own homes by appointment.

Since the implementation of the Local Electoral Administration and Registration Services (Scotland) Act 2006 any birth or death which occurs in Scotland may be registered at any registration office in Scotland.

Registrars seek to deliver a professional, efficient and sympathetic registration service, resulting in the accurate recording and preservation of all events of birth, death and marriage.
