Owner Occupiers

Owner occupiers experience the same problems and issues faced by tenants for example anti-social neighbours, repairs and arrears. The main difference is that they are ultimately responsible for the general maintenance and repairs to their own property.

All local authorities have a legal duty to ensure that good quality housing advice and information is available in their area. Orkney Islands Council does this through its Homelessness and Advice section and by providing funding to the Citizens Advice Bureau in return for a service offering independent housing advice.

As such if you are an owner occupier and you can't find the answer to your question on this website please do not hesitate to contact the Homelessness and Advice section on 01856873535 or via e-mail.
